Privacy policy
Effective date: July 4, 2026.
Homieo (“Homieo,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Conscious Living Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (clclife.org). Proceeds from Homieo support the Collective's charitable mission and the cost of running this platform.
This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We've written it plainly, but completely — the plain language doesn't change what it covers. Questions any time: hello@homieo.org.
1. What we collect
Information you give us.
- Account details: your name and email address. Homieo uses real names, not usernames.
- Profile details: an optional photo (avatar) and anything you add to your profile.
- Content you post: reviews, comments, ratings, remedies, recipes, ingredients, saved collections, blocked-ingredient preferences, and photos you upload (including “before / during / after” photos).
- Messages to us: anything you send to hello@homieo.org or through the contact page.
- Newsletter signup: your email, if you opt in.
Information collected automatically.
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, and basic interaction data that helps us run and improve the site.
- Device and connection data: your IP address, browser type, and similar technical signals.
- Cookies: see Section 6.
A note on health information. Homieo doesn't require health information from anyone. But by its nature, content you chooseto post — a review of a remedy you tried, a photo of a skin condition — may reveal information about your health or your pet's. You are always in control of what you share, and you should share only what you're comfortable making public (see Section 2).
2. Your posts are public — please read this
Homieo is a community. Reviews, comments, ratings, photos, and remedies you post are visible to everyone, along with your name, your member code, and how long you've been a member. That includes health-related experiences and images you choose to share.
Think before you post. Once something is public, other people can see it, and copies may persist elsewhere even after removal here. Never post anything about your health (or anyone else's) that you wouldn't want publicly known.
3. Security and abuse-prevention data
To keep the community safe, we retain IP addresses and device signals associated with accounts and use them to detect abuse — including identifying when a banned person creates a new account. This data is visible only to Homieo staff, is never shown publicly, and is used only for security, abuse prevention, moderation, and legal compliance. We retain these signals for up to 24 months unless a longer period is required for an active investigation or by law.
We also keep a log of moderation actions (what was hidden or restored, and by whom) so that moderation stays accountable and reversible.
4. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and show your contributions to the community.
- To operate community features: trust scores, tried-it review gating, collections, reporting, and moderation.
- To prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and protect members (Section 3).
- To respond when you contact us.
- To send the newsletter, if you opted in (unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email).
- To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To comply with law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not build advertising profiles or use your data to target ads.
We use AI on Homieo — for example, image creation and to help moderate content and surface relevant ingredient or remedy information — and any such use is subject to the same protections described in this policy.
5. When we share information
- Service providers. We use a small number of providers to run Homieo — hosting, database/authentication/storage, and email delivery. They process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations, and only as needed to provide their service.
- Affiliate links. Some ingredient pages include marked affiliate links (currently Amazon). If you click one, you leave Homieo, and the destination site's privacy practices apply — including any cookies it sets. We don't send them your Homieo account or health information; they know only that a visitor arrived through our link.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of members, the public, or Homieo.
- Nonprofit operations. Homieo is operated by Conscious Living Collective; data is used within the organization solely to run Homieo, under this policy.
We never sell personal information, and we don't share it with third parties for their own marketing.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (like People vs. Pet mode). We don't use advertising cookies. We do use Google Analytics. You can block cookies in your browser, though signing in and some features may stop working.
7. How long we keep information
- Account and content: for as long as your account exists.
- If you delete your account: we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for security (Section 3), moderation integrity, legal compliance, or dispute resolution. Public contributions may be removed or de-identified (shown without your name) so that community context — like replies to your review — still makes sense.
- Abuse-prevention signals: per Section 3.
- Emails to us: as long as needed to handle your request and for our records.
8. Your rights and choices
You can, at any time:
- Access a copy of your personal information.
- Correct information that's wrong.
- Delete your account and personal information (subject to Section 7).
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter.
Email hello@homieo.organd we'll respond to any of these requests regardless of where you live. Depending on your location (for example, certain U.S. states or the European Economic Area), you may have additional legal rights, including the right to complain to a data-protection authority; we will honor the rights that apply to you.
9. Age
Homieo is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or post content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has an account, contact hello@homieo.org.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards — including access controls that limit sensitive data (like the signals in Section 3) to staff — to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, which is another reason to share thoughtfully (Section 2).
11. Where data is processed
Homieo is operated from the United States and our providers process data in the U.S. If you use Homieo from elsewhere, you understand your information will be processed in the United States.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you (such as a site notice or email). Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
